Ruby Battles is a separate equal-conditions mode
In the dedicated Ruby Battles documentation, both players attack the same Ghost Base with the same randomly selected units. Stars take priority; reaching three Stars first wins immediately. If both finish with the same one or two Stars, destruction percentage decides, followed by shorter attack time if destruction is also equal. Read this equal-conditions mode separately from base building and army selection.

This separate mode spends Ruby according to the documentation. Ruby is not deducted during the search, cancellation during that search has no penalty, and deduction occurs when a match is found. Documented tiers, fees and rewards do not establish current prices or actual winnings, or the ordinary mobile edition’s free-play scope and initial entry conditions.
